SHINEE MEMBER PROFILE
SHINEE
Pre-debut
SHINee remained a secret until May 18, 2008 when the introduction of the new group surfaced on various articles on the Internet. However, some members of the band had made small appearances without alerting the media about the band. Jonghyun, for instance, lent his voice in a duet with Zhang Liyin, "Wrongly Given Love" (交错的爱), which was recorded in Zhang Liyin's first Chinese album. Minho appeared in Ha Sangbaek's fashion show in March 2008. Key appeared as an extra in Super Junior's official movie, Attack on the Pin-Up Boys. Near the end of the movie, during the song 'Wonderboy', he appeared in a school uniform, dancing.
On May 19, 2008 a teaser for the group's debut music video appeared on their official website. The video was then released on May 22, 2008 and their first mini album on May 23, 2008.
Ha Sang Baek is appointed as their official designer. Their style has created a fashion trend of high-top sneakers, skinny jeans and colorful sweaters, which the media named the "SHINee Trend".
Debut and Beginning Success
SHINee made their debut television appearance on SBS's Popular Songs on May 25, 2008, performing their first promotional single, "누난 너무 예뻐 (Replay)". The group's first stage performance was on May 22, 2008 on M.NET's M! Countdown. On June 7, 2008, SHINee performed at the Dream Concert in the Seoul Olympic Stadium along with other popular Korean stars, and Jonghyun performed in the opening act along with other members from Super Junior and Girls' Generation as a part of "Dream Band".
Members from the group have also gone on to making a number of guest appearances on radio shows such as KBS's Super Junior Kiss the Radio, a radio show hosted by Super Junior members Leeteuk and Eunhyuk. SHINee visited other radio shows that were hosted by other Super Junior members, such as Shindong's Stop the Boring Time and Sungmin's Reckless Radio, and Kangin's Chin Chin Radio, where they performed a few of their songs. They have also made many appearances on various television shows, including Star King, Star Golden Bell and Mnet School of Rock.
SHINee received the "Rookie of the Month" award on Cyworld 9 days after their debut and won the "Hot New Star" award at MNet 20's Choice Award 2008.
SHINee released their full debut album, "SHINee World," on August 28, 2008. The first single released from the album was "산소 같은 너" [Love Like Oxygen], which is a cover of "Show the World" by Martin Hoberg Hedegaard, originally written by the Danish songwriting/production team of Thomas Troelsen, Remee and Lucas Secon. The official music video has been released. On September 18th, 2008, SHINee's "Love Like Oxygen" was the #1 song on M! Countdown. A few days afterwards, SHINee received the mutizen award for "Love Like Oxygen" on SBS Inkigayo. On October 3, 2008, SHINee was awarded the "Asia's Best Newcomer" award at the 5th Asia Song Festival.
SHINee's first reality show, SHINee's YunHaNam (hosted by Mnet), had its first episode broadcasted on August 8, 2008. Each episode is loosely based on the five boys' meeting and date(s) with an older woman (also known as a 'noona'). At the end of each (30 minute) episode, the noona picks one of the boys as her choice for a solo date. The show's final, 12th episode was released on October 16, 2008.
Repackaged Album
At the Asia Song Festival 2008, SHINee member Key informed fans that SHINee would be releasing a repackaged album, which will include the new songs, "아.미.고" [Amigo], [Forever or Never], and a remix of "사.계.한" [Love Should Go On] from their Mini Album, on the 30th of October.
The first promotion for SHINee's new song was held on SBS Inkigayo on October 26, 2008. It is a dance hip-hop song with heavy choreography, similar to that of their song from their first album, "The SHINee World." On October 30 2008 SHINee won the New Icon award.
SHINee released their third official music video for their new song, 아.미.고 [Ah.Mi.Go] (The title is a shortened version of "If you love a beauty, you shall suffer.") on November 3rd, 2008.
On November 15, 2008 SHINee was nominated as Best Male Rookie at the 10th annual Mnet KM Music Festival, and won over U-Kiss, 2PM, 2AM and Mighty Mouth.
SUPER JUNIOR
Super Junior (슈퍼주니어; often stylized SUPERJUNIOR), sometimes referred to as SJ or SuJu (슈주), is a thirteen-member boy band from Seoul, South Korea. They are managed by producer Lee Soo Man and is currently the largest group under SM Entertainment. The members are Leeteuk (the leader), Heechul, Han Geng, Yesung, Kang-in, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Siwon, Ryeowook, Kibum, and Kyuhyun. The Chinese member, Han Geng, was chosen among the 3,000 applicants through auditions held in China by SM Entertainment in 2001. The group initially debuted with twelve members on November 6, 2005, but since the addition of Kyuhyun in May 23, 2006, they have become a thirteen-member group.
Super Junior has released two studio albums and two CD singles since 2005. Their most successful album, Don't Don, was the second best-selling album of 2007, according to the Music Industry Association of Korea. In addition, the group has earned four music awards from the M.NET/KM Music Festival, another four from the Golden Disk Awards, and is the second group to win Favorite Artist Korea at the MTV Asia Awards after JTL.
Since the late 1990s, Korean talent agency and record label SM Entertainment has been holding annual auditions to scout new talents that complemented the success of boy bands H.O.T and Shinhwa as well as the girl group S.E.S, all of which were created by SM founder and producer Lee Soo Man in the late 1990s. In 2001, the company held their first oversea casting auditions in Beijing, where they discovered Han Geng, who was chosen among 3,000 applicants. Leeteuk, Heechul, Yesung, Eunhyuk, Siwon, and Kibum were discovered under the company's annual auditions that were held in Seoul while Kang-in, Shindong, Sungmin, Donghae, and Ryeowook were discovered through SM-sponsored contests and singing competitions.[5]
Not long after boy band TVXQ's debut in 2003, news about Lee's unprecedented plans of forming another boy band quickly spread over the Internet. In early 2005, SM Entertainment confirmed the news and announced that a twelve-member all-male singing group would debut near the end of the year, promoting the project group to be "The Gateway to Stardom of Asia."For a while the group was known to be called O.V.E.R, the acronym for "Obey the Voice for Each Rhythm."Most members of the group have been actors, MCs, models, or DJs prior debut. Heechul and Kibum made their first appearances in dramas and films; Leeteuk, Yesung, Kang-in, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, and Siwon made cameo television appearances; Han Geng made his first media appearance as a model, and Heechul was also already an established DJ before debut.
Before the group settled with their current name, the company labled them as simply Junior, a representation of the members' young ages when they first joined SM Entertainment. However, after the members' showcased their different talents to the company during an SM-sponsored picnic, the company finalized their name to Super Junior. Soon the group became officially Super Junior 05, the first generation of Super Junior. In the first several months of debut, Super Junior had been known for their infamous line-up, a concept being very similar to Japan's girl group, Morning Musume. Intended to be a rotational group, there was to be new members replacing some of the old members each year, forming a new Super Junior generation every time. However, this concept was abandoned when a new member was added in May 2006.
They made their pre-debut appearance on the Korean channel, M.NET on September 11, 2005. At the showcase, Super Junior 05 performed various styles of hip hop dancing. The group danced to B2K's "Take It To The Floor." Han Geng, Eunhyuk, and Donghae also performed a separate dance away from the group, dancing to Usher's "Caught Up." However, the performance did not air on television until May 16, 2006 as a segment in the Super Junior Show, the group's first television documentary.

Since their debut, TVXQ has become one of the most popular singing groups in East Asia, gaining great popularity in such countries as and other East Asian regions.
Before debut, there were several tentative names for the group. Each member was to come up with ideas for the name of the group. The three names suggested were Oh Jang Yook Bu (오장육부, the five visceras), Jun Muhk Go, (전설을 먹고 사는 고래, A Whale That Eats Legends), and Dong Bang Bul Pae (동방불패, the Korean title of Ashes of Time). The group decided on Dong Bang Bul Pae, and Lee Soo Man asked the film's director for permission to use the name. In the end, however, the name was rejected because its Hanja was not aesthetically pleasing, and the group name was changed instead to Dong Bang Shin Ki.
TVXQ made their first appearance on December 26, 2003 during a BoA Showcase. They performed their debut song "Hug" as well as an a cappella rendition of "O Holy Night" alongside BoA. The group released two singles ("Hug" and "The Way U Are"), accompanied by photo books in the following year. TVXQ reached #1 on Korean music charts in three months after their debut. In October 2004, the first album Tri-Angle was released.
Their official fan club derives its name from the Cassiopeia constellation near the Little Dipper. The constellation consists of 5 main stars, and TVXQ has 5 members. When traced on a computer keyboard, "TVXQ" resembles Cassiopeia.
SM Entertainment once considered adding a Chinese member to the group and rotate members to help boost popularity in other countries, as hinted in The 3rd StoryBook - TVfXQ!. The purpose would have been to branch each member into different solo activities, or possibly combine other trainees into the group. However, the idea was abandoned due to opposition from fans who threatened to boycott SM Entertainment products.
